Counselling

If you are, or someone you know is, suicidal or struggling with life issues, it is important to tell someone – if you are facing a crisis in your life, or a period of change, then counselling may help.
Counselling services offer clients the opportunity to: talk about their situation in a confidential setting; validate their feelings and come to positive decisions.

Clients can then understand and clarify their view of their life circumstances; to learn to reach their self determined goals through meaningful, well-informed choices and through resolution of issues of an emotional or interpersonal nature. Counsellors encourage and support the client to understand and/or improve their behaviour, character and values, therefore changing their life circumstance. Counselling can help a person face the effects of past experiences that may prevent them progressing their life.

CLS counsellors refer the client to other agencies for longer term counselling and/or support for ongoing, deep seated issues that may have been discussed during sessions. CLS staff are available for short term intervention counselling in all areas of Tasmania and appointments can be arranged by phoning 1300 132 098.
